BRIGHT IDEA

“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.” Leo Burnett. What creativity I possess began with the fact I’ve always been insanely curious. That curiosity nudged me towards my background in human behavior, which seeps into my work. Plus, I’m always wondering what something might look like if I do this…or what might happen if I do that.

Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is staying an artist when you grow up.” Children are able to play, to create without censure until social pressures drains that out of them. If, as an artist, you are able to hold onto the ability to create freely, you become a much better artist. George Bernard Shaw said, “Imagination is the beginning of creation.” But remember, if you never try, you never create anything. You have to be willing to risk.

Many famous people have spoken about creativity and the generation of ideas. Cecil B. DeMille said, “Creativity is a drug I cannot live without.” I agree. So today, here’s a sample of my drug of choice…Bright Idea. Because as George Bernard Shaw said, “You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream of things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’

We’re in a time where we desperately need creative people to get us out of this mess. Surely, there are good people out there with bright ideas that can help turn things around. As Shaw said, “Why not?”
